Professor Swanepoel’s research applies digital health technologies to develop and evaluate innovative hearing services that improve access and affordability globally. He is co-founder of hearX Group, Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Audiology, and directs the WHO Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Deafness and Hearing Loss at the University of Pretoria.

Professor Manchaiah’s research focuses on improving the accessibility, affordability, and outcomes of hearing and balance care through digital technologies and self-management approaches. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and five textbooks.
